I don’t remember the dates of most of the Elton concerts I’ve been to, but some of my early ones still stick in the memory. On this date 19 (!) years ago Elton played the 2nd of 2 nights at Earls Court raising money for the EJAF.
This was the 3rd Elton concert @eleanor and I had been to and what a corker. Elton opened with Pinball Wizard, played Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters parts 1&2 and chucked in two more covers of The Show Must Go On and Jumping Jack Flash.
It wasn’t all rockers though, Elton also played beautiful versions of Come Down in Time and The Last Song. Rocket Man was probably the standout track for me though, featuring as it did some audience participation.
