@eleanor and I ventured to deepest darkest South East London on Thursday to check out a talk about music and movies, with T Bone Burnett and Robert Redford. The event, moderated by Nick Hornby, was part of the first Sundance London, held at IndigO2. I’ve put some photos up in the gallery Sundance London.
It was a really interesting evening, topped off with performances by Glen Hansard and Guillemots. I admit to having no idea T Bone had produced so many iconic soundtracks, including Oh Brother Where Art Thou?. Unfortunately the conversation stuck quite rigidly to the movies theme so no mention of working with Elton 🙁 Still Elton did make an appearance towards the end……on a short promo of Redford and Burnett’s upcoming collaboration American Epic about the beginnings of American music. One to look out for!

Yeah we waited a long time for an Elton reference!! We both also thought it might have been more populated with muso names but we didn’t see a single famous face. Still it was a fascinating insight into the works of two great people. They could have talked a bit more about why certain songs were used to enhance certain scenes; that was what would have interested us both the most… but they didn’t.

Guillemots are a band worth looking at in my humble opinion, I liked their vibe.
